can a double acting cylinder such as TRC 3 X 14 be used as a single acting cylinder?

Thank you for your inquiry. The TRC 3x14 is double-acting, meaning it has (2) ports, one for extending and the other for retracting. Technically, all double-acting cylinders can be converted to single-acting by plugging one of the ports, but this will shorten the cylinder's life expectancy. If the customer needed to file a warranty claim for any reason, they would not be able to do so as the cylinder is not being used as intended. We have seen in the past, when converting from DA to SA, that fluid leaks from the plugged port, which will eventually happen as the plug can only take so much pressure and fluid. The customer can do so, but it is not recommended. The part they can use to convert is AVB-SAE6; this pressure vacuum relief plug allows free air in and out and protects one of the cavities of the hydraulic cylinder from dirt, dust and water when converting from double-acting to single-acting.

    Have a nice day,
