My pond is frozen solid would this be able to melt it’s way through to water? Maybe 6”?

If the pond is frozen solid all the way to the bottom (no liquid water), it won’t work properly and could overheat or fail

The de-icer is designed to sit in water, not run dry under ice

    Hello,

The 1500W, 120V sinking de-icer (part number 108-0004) includes an internal thermostat and thermal overheat protection. The unit automatically cycles on and off based on water temperature and operating conditions.

Specific on/off temperature set points are not published in the product documentation. The thermostat is not user-adjustable and is designed to operate only when conditions require de-icing.

Please let me know if you need additional details.

How long are the cords on these all-metal stock tank heaters? Will a 15 amp circuit breaker handle this device?

It has a 6’ cord with anti-chew protection, and it is 1500 watts, and a 15 amp breaker will handle up to 1440 watts, so it would not quite be able to handle this device. The following product may be a better option for you (only 500 Watts): https://farmandranchdepot.com/500w-120v-bucket-utlity-sinking-de-icer

The 15N is recommended for between a100 to 300 gallon tank. Unfortunately,
we do not have a de-icer capable of working for a 500 gallon tank.
