Automatic Horse Stall Waterer:

An automatic horse waterer, also known as an automatic stall waterer or horse water fountain, is a device designed to provide a continuous and easily accessible source of fresh water for horses. These waterers are commonly used in horse barns, stalls, and paddocks to ensure that horses have a constant supply of clean and uncontaminated water.
This particular item was designed nearly 20 years ago to be simple, reliable, and satisfying to use. The attractive and very durable automatic horse waterer has evolved through conscientious response to customer feedback, into a highly refined, specialty appliance now regarded by many as the premier choice for cost, function, service life, and appearance. Engineered and manufactured in the USA of polyethylene for long, reliable, corrosion-free, color-fast indoor or outdoor service. A thermostatically controlled electric immersion heater is optionally available for locations that experience freezing conditions. Available in a standard color of the granite-gray base, with a granite-gray cover. Optional colors can be quoted for quantity purchases at an additional cost.

Features:
The skirted area allows for a neat and shielded connection to water.

The water level is automatically maintained with an adjustable, enclosed float valve, which is easy to access and completely protected.

The perfectly sized bowl is quickly cleaned with a simple push-out bottom drain. It refills automatically in seconds after servicing.

A secure, easy to install dove-tail fixture is provided for stall installation. Clamps are provided for optional pipe corral mounting.

Connection Recommendations:
Requires a ½” pipe-size water connection with the supply valve preferably terminating near or within the skirted area of the waterer for appearance and safety. The water should be household quality and may need an in-line filter in some water-quality situations.

Does the heating element operate under thermostat regulation or do you turn them on when risk of freeze occurs? Thanks

The heated version operates with a built-in thermostat. The heating element turns on automatically when temperatures approach freezing and shuts off once the water warms up, so there’s no need to manually turn it on and off.

Does the heater plug into a 110V wall outlet or requires hardwiring?

It requires hardwiring to a 110-120V AC electrical supply—no standard wall plug/outlet is used.
The heater connects directly via a cord or conduit to a nearby grounded 110V circuit (typically 15-20A dedicated breaker recommended) within the skirted "pocket" area at the base of the unit for a clean, protected installation.

What is the recommendation for installation so the water supply does not freeze? Have the heated waterer but concerned about the 1/2" pipe connection freezing. thank you

    Please see the information provided.
Bury the Supply Line Below the Frost Line:

For best results, we recommend burying the water supply line at least 12 inches below your local frost line This keeps the pipe in stable, warmer ground temperatures (around 50°F/10°C).

    Insulate the Exposed Pipe:
Wrap the 1/2" pipe connection (from the waterer inlet to the shut-off valve) with foam pipe insulation (available at most hardware stores). Secure it with weatherproof tape to protect against wind chill.
Consider Heat Tape for Extra Protection:
In colder climates, applying self-regulating heat tape to the exposed pipe.

    Positioning and Setup:
Place the waterer on a level, well-drained surface like a concrete pad or gravel to avoid pooling water. If possible, position it in a sheltered spot (e.g., under a coop overhang) to reduce exposure to wind.
