    I run a dog rescue and we get dog food in by the pallet every 6 weeks. Sadly since it's in a barn mice are getting into it all the time so we are looking into some kind of container where we can not only store it all, but saves us time with opening 2 bags daily while keeping the mice out.

    Do you think your product would work well for cat/dog food? Assuming we will be using a large bin like a kitchen trash can to catch the feed as it comes out of the hopper. Also is the hopper easy to open and close? I have a wife who has arthritis and her wrists hurt if it's too hard to open.

    Yes. This bin would work well for your needs, as long as you are using it for dry dog food (kibble). It is made of aluminum, so mice can't chew through it. Also, the lid opens and closes with the assistance of small hydraulic cylinder(s), so it is easy to open and close the lid. I hope this info helps.

    Can these hold something heavier and finer like minerals? Also, since 200lbs of minerals take up less space than feed, can I only partially fill a 200lb capacity feeder or can it handle more weight? I am basically asking is the weight capacity based on how much feed can fit in it or a weight limitation in general?

    Hello, the capacity we have listed is for feed volume, not max weight. This bin can hold at least 300 total pounds of product. It hasn't been tested for more than that. I hope this helps.

    Hello, are these feed buddy bins guaranteed to be rodent proof? Do they come with any warranty?

    The Feed Buddy bins are all aluminum, including the lid. They’re very rodent-resistant, but we cannot guarantee they are rodent-proof. They include a 1-year warranty for defects in materials or workmanship.

    How does the cover come off for filling? I'm trying to figure out where I would put the bin. Our current feed room has an 8ft ceiling. So I am wondering if I could be able to keep it in there (I'm looking at the 1500lb capacity bin) and be able to fill it with grain? Thank you!

    The cover (lid) is hinged at the back and swings upward. It is held open by small hydraulic cylinders. 1500lb capacity bin stands 6 feet tall, so you'd only have 2 feet of clearance to open the lid and fill the bin. That may be enough clearance depending on your preferences. The 1000lb capacity bin is also 6 feet tall. For a shorter bin, you could consider purchasing 2 or 3 of the 500lb capacity bins. They stand 58" tall, so you'd have a lot more clearance. Thank you!
