HS20 Cattle Guards

An H-20 cattle guard is a type of cattle guard that is built to handle HS-20 load rating standards, which come from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) bridge and roadway design specifications.  Here’s what it means:

H-20 rating = Designed to support the weight of a fully loaded highway truck with a 16 tons per axle load.

This is the same standard used for bridges and roadways, so an H-20 cattle guard can handle heavy farm equipment, semi-trucks, and other highway vehicles without risk of collapsing.

They are constructed of heavy-duty steel and installed in driveways, ranch entrances, and county roads where vehicles and livestock both travel.
